Michele_Bachmann_ThumbnailYesterday I had the chance to catch up with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) at the WHO Radio studios in Des Moines as she finished up an interview there with Jan Mickelson.  Right before she and I spent a few minutes together she did a phone interview with Jon Scott on Fox News and recorded a radio spot.  Sheā€™s just a *little* busy when she comes out to Iowa.

We talked about her potential involvement in the 2012 Iowa Caucus.  They are considering whether or not to start an exploratory committee.  They will make their decision this summer.  Likely it will be early summer as she said ā€œit is very important to be a part of the (Ames) straw poll.ā€  She and her husband are prayerfully considering what they should do as it is a vitally important decision.

She is confident that the House Republican Leadership will stick to their guns on defunding Obamacare.  Regarding education she does not support a federal role in the local schools, opposes No Child Left Behind, and would be supportive of abolishing the Federal Department of Education.  On Libya she believes that President Obama is mishandling Libyan situation and that he needed to consult Congress before involving the United States.

Then as a native Iowan I asked her the most vital question of all ā€“ Hawkeyes or Cyclones?  Youā€™ll have to watch the interview below for her answer to that question and catch all of her statements about 2012, Obamacare, Education and Libya.

I also was able to meet with her a second time, on behalf of KTIA Radio prior to the Iowa Pastors Renewal Conference. I’ll be posting that this weekend.
