Shane, you are old enough to remember the stunts Republican leaders pulled to get Medicare part D passed. Giving holdouts extra cash for their states/districts is a centuries-old Congressional tradition.

@desmoinesdem, Can’t say I liked it then, I just wasn’t blogging then.
@desmoinesdem, I amend that statement I was blogging then… was still pretty new and really wasn’t doing much political blogging at that point. I can’t say it helped Republicans in 2006, can you?
