Get Culverized

On my way to Valparaiso, IN yesterday (for my father-in-law’s funeral on Thursday) I stopped for dinner in Morris, IL.  I ate at Culver’s.  I haven’t eaten at Culver’s in a long time.  I had a Mushroom Swiss ButterBurger snack pack (delicious, but not so healthy), but I digress as that isn’t really the point of this post.  I noticed their new marketing campaign – Get Culverized.  Brilliant!

I couldn’t help but think of Iowa Governor Chet Culver.  I bet his campaign is disappointed that Culver’s thought of this first, but alas it is now copyrighted so they can’t use it.

But could you imagine what Getting Culverized would be like if applied to Governor Chet Culver?  Perhaps it would be look a little like this:

• You get completely out-of-control with your spending.
• You then do a 10% across the board budget cut much to the chagrin of your bank when you make your mortgage payment.
• After an audit it is discovered that you’ve always had a track record of mismanaging your money.
• You have to spin, spin, spin to find triumphs in your work.
• You’d forget how the house you were building was paid for.
• You would break your promises.
• You would kill programs that have proven effectiveness.
• You would sign onto every liberal piece of crap that came your way.
• You would celebrate sinful behavior among youth.
• You would have your own my.(yourname).com social networking website, wow you are cool.
• You would spend $300,000 of taxpayer dollars to  a consultant who gives you ideas that you probably could have gotten from ordinary citizens (or, wait for it, your own employees).
• Your staff would also intimidate people who use unflattering pictures of you.

And the list could go on and on.  Then we have Culverisms, but one can only have so much fun writing a blog post.  Well too bad they missed out on a marketing coup.
