The Christian Post reported that the Iowa High School Athletic Association will not allow wrestlers have ash on their forehead since the state tournament started on Ash Wednesday. The story just mentioned Catholic wrestlers, but would include other denominations as well since I know other denominations practice this as well (like the United Methodist church I attended growing up). What do you think about this?
I’m thinking, not a big deal. Being a wrestler I know that the ash could get into a wrestler’s eyes, etc. So I see this as a safety issue, not a religious discrimination one.
