I was a Boy Scout growing up in Bondurant, IA. Every summer we would spend a week up at Camp Mitigwa near Madrid, IA. It was tent camping and there weren’t many structures on the camp property. We had storms come through, but what happened last night to a Boy Scout camp in Western Iowa, Little Sioux Scout Ranch, has to be their worst nightmare.
A tornado ripped through the camp killing four scouts and injuring 48 others. Their were 93 scouts and 25 leaders who were at the camp had split up between two shelters, and a small group had been out hiking when the tornado hit about 6:30pm last night. The serious injuries were those in the shelter who were hit by bricks and other debris.
