Picture HT: Cheat Seeking Missles

I’ve not posted on the Cap and Trade bill that was just passed by the House yesterday 219 to 212.  Forty Democrats voted against this bill, and eight GOP turncoats (see above) voted for allowing this piece of crap bill to pass (unfortunately Congressman Leonard Boswell wasn’t one of them).  There are a number of problems with this bill, for starters the House voted on this thing without an official copy.  So we can call this the mystery bill.

Through a series of parliamentary inquiries, the Republicans learned that the 300-plus page managers’ amendment, added to the bill last night in the House Rules Committee, has not even been been integrated with the official copy of the 1,090-page bill at the House Clerk’s desk, let alone in any other location. The two documents are side-by-side at the desk as the clerk reads through the instructions in the 300 page document for altering the 1,090 page document.

So again, who actually read this thing?  I mean, read the bills we’re voting for?  Are you serious?  We need to know what is in these things before we vote on them?  Yes, I know a novel concept.

Let’s not read a bill that will effectively raise the cost of utilities on people.  Even Warren Buffet said this is a lousy bill.

HT: Mattr of Fact

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) says this is dead in the water when it hits the Senate.  Let’s hope so.  Just incase though you’ll want to contact your friendly neighborhood Senator.  For those of you who live in Iowa, Senator Chuck Grassley opposes it, but you never know about Senator Tom Harkin so here is his contact information:

Washington DC: (202)224-3254
Cedar Rapids: (319)365-4504
Davenport: (563)322-1338
Des Moines: (515)284-4574
Dubuque: (563)582-2130
Sioux City: (712)252-1550

Great epitaph for this bill – “Never have so few stolen so much from so many to achieve so little.”
