I’ve blogged a lot about the NY 23 Congressional race, but thought I’d highlight another important race that isn’t in the spotlight at the moment – the Florida Senate race.  Former Florida Speaker of the House Marco Rubio is running for U.S. Senate in 2010, but he has to get through a primary first.  His opponent is Florida Governor Charlie Crist.  Crist has the backing of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, who in my mind, should not weigh in on a Republican primary.  But they have, and true to form, the establishment has picked Democrat Lite.  Out of the two, Rubio is the clear conservative has been endorsed by Mike Huckabee, and is supported by Huck PAC.

Human Events notes that he’s a product of the grassroots movement:

Rubio’s race is a textbook example of what’s happening nationally — as the grassroots express their concern with a radical left-wing administration, Republican party leadership will have to back off its initial policy post-election of ‘soften your message.’ A diluted Republican message is the watermark of Rubio’s Republican primary opponent Charlie Crist, the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s anointed candidate in the race. Crist campaigned around Florida supporting President Obama’s “stimulus” spending spree and, after an “environmental summit” last year, proposed his own version of a “cap-and-trade” plan which the state legislature rejected.

Take some time to learn more about Marco Rubio, I wholeheartedly commend him to you.  I would also like to encourage Sarah Palin with SarahPAC, other conservative PACs, and conservatives who have the means to donate to his campaign to get behind Marco Rubio and help put him in the U.S. Senate.  Of course if you live in Florida, make sure you are registered to vote (you have to register as a Republican), and vote for Rubio.
