Today marks the day when the Japanese Navy attacked the United States Navy Pacific Fleet docked at Pearl Harbor in 1941 which led to the United State declaring war on the Empire of Japan and Nazi Germany. Incidentally it is also my youngest daughter Lily’s birthday, she turned 10.

2,402 sailors, Marines and soldiers (they attacked Hickam Army Air Field as well).  They wounded 1,282 others.  As President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared that it is a “day that will live in infamy.”  We had not had an attack on American soil of this magnitude until 9/11/01.

Here’s a clip on the Pearl Harbor Attack from the World War II Combat Chronicles.

I’d like again take time to thank the soldiers, sailors and Marines of the Greatest Generation who sacrificed in order that our freedom be preserved and tyranny defeated.
