Stimulus, One Year Later

It’s been one year since the Stimulus has been passed.  Let’s do a recap of this glorious year of glorious overspending that made President George W. Bush look like a penny pincher.

• 6.3 million – the job gap the number between how many jobs President Obama promised would be saved (3.3 million) and the number that has been lost (3 million) (HT: NRO’s The Corner).
• The current unemployment rate is 9.7%, after rising above 10%.  This is after President Obama promised it wouldn’t go above 8.2%.
• But yes it did have an undeniable impact on our economy… just not with jobs (only 6% iof Americans believe the stimulus package created a significant number of jobs in a recent CBS/New York Times poll).
• Stimulus funds have gone to programs that President Barack Obama wants to eliminate.
• According to a CNN Poll: 3 of 4 Americans say much of the stimulus money was wasted.
• It did stimulate green jobs in… China.
• It’s become a fiscal burden for state and local governments.
• It’s also stimulating job growth in districts that don’t exist.
• We can thank the Stimulus for the Tea Party Movement however.

I think it can be safely said that the only thing the stimulus package did was to stimulate government jobs and debt.  Let’s not celebrate the first stimulus with a second one.
