State Representative and Gubernatorial Candidate Rod Roberts (R-Carroll) announced today that State Representatives Rich Anderson (R-Clarinda), Clel Baudler (R-Greenfield), and Gary Worthan (R-Storm Lake) have endorsed his gubernatorial campaign.  They join Representative Jason Schultz (R-Schleswig) and former Representative Dan Boddicker who endorsed Roberts last week.

Representative Baudler in his endorsement of Roberts, “I have seen his leadership skills in action and I know he is ready to lead our state.”  Representative Baudler is a 12-year veteran of the Iowa House.

Representative Roberts who has served in the Iowa House alongside of Roberts for six years said,  “Rod has political leadership experience that I trust. I know his character and wisdom. He has the administrative abilities and the executive leadership necessary to balance our state’s budget. I enthusiastically support his gubernatorial bid.”

“Rod is the most senior member of the House Republican leadership team, and he has a proven track record of fighting for conservative values,” Representative Worthan, a three-year state representative noted, “He will provide new leadership for our state government, and I am proud to support his campaign.”

These endorsements counter criticism that Roberts has received from some Vander Plaats supporters saying that he lacks leadership ability.  Roberts said in an email to me that he senses momentum building with his campaign, and said of these endorsements, “I greatly appreciate the support from Rich, Clel, and Gary. They are strong conservative Republicans who share my vision for building a better Iowa.  I am happy that Rich, Clel, and Gary are supporting our campaign’s goal of bringing new leadership to the Governor’s Office.”
