Rod Roberts State Representative Rod Roberts (R-Carroll) one of the three remaining Republican candidates in the Iowa Gubernatorial race found himself in the midst of a controversy over the weekend and yesterday as a result of a statement he made about moral law during an interview with The Des Moines Register’s editorial board.  We sat down to discuss moral law – what is it’s basis?  Can a law passed by popular vote be considered immoral or unjust?  Is there a higher moral law that transcends our moral values?  Is there such a thing as absolute truth and how would he define it?

We also discussed what authority a Governor has, what would he practically do to address the year-old marriage ruling as Governor?  Would he pardon county recorders who denied marriage licenses to homosexual couples based on their conscience?  How can the judiciary be reigned in?

Also discussed is what are the limits of government and politics?  Speaking as a minister how should the Church be engaging culture?

Please listen to our conversation and you’ll find that Rod Roberts’ core worldview is one any conservative, in particular, conservative Christian can trust.
