AMES – The Republican Party of Iowa is asking Iowans to donate bottled water and hand sanitizer to assist people in Ames affected by flooding. Ames is currently under a “boil water alert” and the city is asking residents to conserve water. City officials say it could be next Tuesday before safe drinking water is restored to the city. In addition to bottled water, Ames says it also needs hand sanitizer.

Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn said all the Party’s volunteers are being encouraged to assist their fellow Iowans in need and that the Iowa GOP is collecting water and hand sanitizer at its Victory offices in Urbandale and Ames from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Strawn said Iowa GOP officials are working with the City of Ames to make sure the supplies are distributed at the city’s pickup locations.
