DSC00202 Responding to the personal attacks that incumbent Congressman Leonard Boswell  and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee have engaged in, State Senator Brad Zaun in an interview with Caffeinated Thoughts that has been released today said that “desparation sums it up” and that his campaign won’t reciprocate that he has “no interest what he has done in his personal life.”

Zaun noted that when he made his announcement back in November he was forthright about his past financial struggles.

I’ve had financial struggles like so many people in the Third Congressional District.  I was put in a position, because of having the hardware store, Home Depot, Lowes and 9/11 hit, where I had to pay my employees before myself and I fell behind with my bills including my mortgage.  The facts are clear.  You know what?  I did fall behind on my mortgage like so many people in the Third Congressional District, but what I did do is I dug myself out of that hole.  I pulled one bootstrap up at a time and I paid everyone back.  I did not and was not foreclosed on twice.  That is not true.

He said of the federal tax lein accusation that three of them came after he sold his store and were dismissed when he showed the documentation to prove it.  He also learned that the new owner of the store had used his tax id number.  The two liens prior to the sale of his store he was able to prove that he didn’t have employees to pay taxes on during those quarters so they were also dismissed.  He said that accusation is untruthful as well (at the very least ignores context).
