image DES MOINES – U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley’s re-election campaign launches its sixth week of positive, issue-oriented advertising with a 30-second television ad outlining his work providing tax relief for working families.

“Chuck Grassley continues to focus on the issues that are important to Iowans,” said campaign manager Bob Renaud. “This ad is the latest to communicate a factual, straightforward theme about how Chuck Grassley works for Iowans.”

Renaud also noted that Democratic candidate Roxanne Conlin, who is trailing badly in the polls, has reversed her weeks-long campaign of airing nothing but attack ads. Her new spot promotes her law firm activities rather espousing a political position.

“It’s clearly a promotional ad for her law firm using campaign funds,” Renaud said.

Grassley’s new 30-second spot “Learn” opens with images of him chatting with Iowans as the announcer states, “Senator Chuck Grassley has helped families get by in these tough economic times.”

It continues with images of two families as the announcer says, “He authored the largest middle-class tax cut in a generation.” A young man adds, “For us.”

As scenes from the University of Iowa appear on the screen, the announcer continues, “Created the college tuition tax credit, when there was none.” A young woman adds, “For us.”

With shots of a group of students and a teacher handing out tests in the classroom, the announcer continues, “Provided tax relief for student loans … and classroom supplies for teachers.” Another young woman says, “For us.” The announcer concludes, “Grassley works.” And young man adds, “For us.”
