There were a few prominent local speakers at the Des Moines Tea Party Rally on Saturday.  The first was given by a tea party favorite, State Representative Kim Pearson (R-Pleasant Hill), whose speech is sure to give some Iowa Republican leadership heartburn.

I imagine the reception at the Republican caucus will likely be a little colder for her today.

Steve Deace, formerly of WHO Radio, spoke next.  His challenge was are people gathered going to be patriots or party loyalists.

He gave a pretty good speech so I’ll have to forgive the fact he came to speak with a Michigan coat and Iowa State hat.

His successor in the afternoon drive time slot at WHO Radio, Simon Conway, also came to speak after a couple of weeks of hosting the show.  He recently moved from Florida so I’m sure he enjoyed the weather.

  1. It’s disappointing that you haven’t covered the TEA Party rally in Madison WI, and the tremendous speech delivered by Sarah Palin.

    1. Lots to cover, little time. I was actually at the Des Moines Tea Party. I wasn’t in Wisconsin. My lack of coverage has nothing to do with my opinion of her speech… I’m just stretched thin. If she spoke in Iowa I would have been all over it.
