The debate being held within the liberty movement, Ron or Rand, has finally been answered.  Ron Paul is set to announce the formation of an Exploratory Committee in Des Moines Iowa on Tuesday morning.

There has been much speculation over which Paul would be running next year.  On one hand there is Ron Paul whose message of liberty and truly limited goverment sparked a movement, and some credit him with laying the foundation for the tea party.  On the other hand there was Rand Paul, who was a tea party favorite in the 2010 election, beating an establishment Republican on his way to winning Kentucky’s senate seat.  Both have made several trips to Iowa over the last several months, and each made statements indicating that they were interested in running.  Rand qualified each of his statements with the promise that he would not run against his father if his father decided to run.

Ron Paul joins Herman Cain, Roy Moore, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty,  and Buddy Roemer as candidates who have formed exploratory committees.  Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have set up the nearly equivalent ‘testing the water’ committees.  Gary Johnson and Fred Karger are the only two who have filed paperwork with the FEC becoming fully committed to a presidential run.
