bachmannx-largeCongresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) via Skype addressed those who attended the Polk County Republican Robb Kelly Dinner.  She apologized to the group for not being able to make it to the dinner, she had a vote on the Patriot Act.  She said that they are planning a “rain check” event.

She was able to see the picture of Osama bin Laden, and is convinced that “we got our man.”  She said he was brought to justice due to three things: great intelligence, enhanced Interrogation and our Special Forces.

She said that the Patriot Act does keep our 4th Amendment rights, and she referenced a column written by Congressman Steve King (R-IA).  It was an incredibly important vote, and is confident that our constitutional rights are protected.  The House approved the the Patriot Act extensions on a 250-153 vote tonight.  President Obama must sign the bill before midnight to avoid expiration.

She said she would post a copy of her planned remarks on her Facebook page later tonight.
