Republicans IowaCongresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) would not commit on a date for her 2012 announcement, but said that it would be in June and she would make that announcement in her childhood home, Waterloo, IA.  She pointed to their successful fundraising effort, and noted that they raised more than any other candidate last quarter.  She said that they had more small donors than President Obama did.

She said they are looking at resources and funding before making the decision and wanted to take their time in making the right decision.  Defending her decision not to announce early she noted that the original decision was to announce in June and she was advised to keep to that time line.  She said that she would make her decision independently of what any other candidate does, in reference to a question about former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK).  She said that no two candidates are interchangeable and that she would run on her experience and record.
