AP through KCCI reports that the Iowa Senate Democrats have agreed to House Republican/Branstad Administration demands to limit spending at $5.9 billion. They’ve also agreed to a two year budget and zero percent allowable growth in education spending for FY 2012. They will try to get a 3% allowable growth in the FY 2013 budget.
This is supposed to be debated by the full Senate on Tuesday. The “devil in in the details” so I don’t know if this budget will pass the smell test at all. I won’t get excited about this budget until I can see what it is still funding. If you’re a state employee though there’s hope you’ll still be receiving a paycheck at the end of the current pay period.
