White House Press Secretary Jay Carney spends 10 minutes today saying that they aren’t going to release their plan… because they may not have a plan.

We don’t need no stinking plan. We’ll just keep vetoing any Republican plan.  Not that Speaker John Boehner’s plan is much to be excited about either since it’ll likely not even make it out of the House anyway.  There’s leadership for you.  Oh yeah, President Obama gave a speech on this last night… I’m *so* disappointed that I had to miss.  I mean when do we ever get to hear him speak primetime?  Oh… never mind.

By the way, courtesy of Dale Mastrone… here’s a quote that we all need to keep in mind when we listen to President Obama speak on this subject.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America ’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. – Senator Barack Obama (D-IL), March 2006

I guess we’re seeing change in process, President Obama’s changing his mind and position on the debt ceiling.
