Herman Cain said “we are America” and that we don’t have to be ashamed about it.  He said we are a nation of crises – economic, spending, energy, national security, immigration, moral, and we have a leadership crisis.

He called for corporate tax cuts, and to take the capital gains tax to zero and make the cuts permanent.  On immigration he said we need to secure the border, and expect people to follow the pathway to citizenship – legal immigration.

“I’ve been criticized for not having any foreign policy experience, and President Obama has?”  He said we need to identify who our enemies are and stop giving them money.  He said before he commits our troops to war he’ll make sure the mission is clear and it is in our nation’s best interest.

He said we have a moral crisis – people want to take God out of the picture.  He said our rights are from our Creator.  He said that life must be protected from conception.

About America – “we the people, this giant has awakened and it is not going back to sleep.”  He said our nation is sending a message to Washington, D.C. that we want to send a problem solver, not a President to the White House.

He said he doesn’t want to have the conversation with his grandkids about what America was like when we were free.  He said the founding fathers did their job, we need to be the defending fathers.

Quick thoughts: He connected with the audience.  I will say that he is the best public speaker in the field.  On the economy he gave some position points, as he did on immigration.  He had a great one liner on foreign policy.  Good speech, and he had a nice size group here.  This being the last speech in the program we’ll find out how well this helped as voting will close 45 minutes from now.
