I was pretty hard on Newt Gingrich a few years ago when he appeared in an ad with Nancy Pelosi promoting the need to combat “climate change”. I was quite happy to see that Newt has concluded that was a huge mistake:
First of all, that is probably the dumbest single thing I’ve done in years,” Gingrich said. “It is inexplicable that somebody used to say, ‘You know, there aren’t enough hay wagons to stand on to get people to understand that.’ You just need to relax and go, that was dumb.
I got a big kick out of Charles Krauthammer asking Gingrich if he was held hostage during the filming.

I’m glad he admits that at least. 🙂
I was looking at RealClearPolitics a little while ago, and it seems that the only person (according to those polls anyway) with a decent shot of beating Obama is Romney–Newt is way back against Obama. So Newt could well win the nomination, but I hope not if he can’t beat Obama. I do think Newt would make a better President, but it seems Romney is far more electable.
Newt, demonstrating his ability to pander.
I saw this and thought this as well, Brian.
You never know, Newt has a unique ability to bounce back.
