The Des Moines Register just released their final Iowa Poll for the Iowa Caucus.  This poll is conducted by Seltzer & Company and is known for its accuracy, as it accurately indicated Huckabee’s win in 2008.  The results:

  1. Mitt Romney – 24%
  2. Ron Paul – 22%
  3. Rick Santorum – 15%
  4. Newt Gingrich – 12%
  5. Rick Perry – 11%
  6. Michele Bachmann – 7%
  7. Jon Huntsman – ???? I’m assuming less than a percentage point since he’s not mentioned.

Interesting point by pollster J Ann Seltzer:

But the four-day results don’t reflect just how quickly momentum is shifting in a race that has remained highly fluid for months. If the final two days of polling are considered separately, Santorum rises to second place, with 21 percent, pushing Paul to third, at 18 percent. Romney remains the same, at 24 percent.

“Momentum’s name is Rick Santorum,” said the Register’s pollster, J. Ann Selzer.

Bachmann has fallen further after her 99 county tour, which further demonstrates that all Kent Sorenson managed to do was hurt Bachmann, not help Paul.  I encourage social conservatives who do not want Romney or Paul to win to throw their support behind Rick Santorum, he’s the only one who has a chance to do it.
