As I reported earlier late last week, several of the Republican candidates are struggling with ballot access.

Today Arizona’s deadline came and went, and one candidate failed to make it on the ballot, Jon Huntsman.  This is especially egregious because the only requirement to make it on the ballot was to sign this form.

This ballot is so easy to get on, I considered signing myself up, after all, how many people can say ‘I ran for president’.  The only thing keeping me from doing so, was I did not meet the constitutional requirements, as I am only 29.  But at 51, Huntsman meets all the requirements.

According to the National Journal, the Huntsman campaign filed the paperwork a few hours before the 5pm deadline, but failed to meet the tiny requirement they did have…the candidate’s original signature.

Maybe when you are about to come in third or fourth in the state you went all in on, making sure you are on a ballot two months from now, doesn’t seem all that important.  I think Huntsman will be dropping out after tomorrows results, never seeing the Arizona ballot.
