Washington, D.C. – Today the Susan B. Anthony List criticized Planned Parenthood and the presumption that their “Women are Watching” campaign speaks for women in the political process.

“Planned Parenthood’s ‘Women are Watching’ campaign is its latest effort to distort the notion of feminine leadership and the role women play in advancing our country’s principles,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The original American feminists – women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Alice Paul – espoused authentic pro-life feminism. They recognized that the rights of one group could never be built upon the broken rights of others.

“Cecile Richards is truly out of touch to be heading to a state whose Executive ,Council voted last year to end the state’s $1.8 million taxpayer-funded contract with Planned Parenthood. The pro-life American majority, women and men, in New Hampshire and across the country want out of the abortion business and an end to taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

“Women truly are watching. That is why each Republican presidential candidate has pledged to defund the organization so zealously attached to its abortion-centered model that it turns a blind eye to the systematic exploitation of women. Women deserve better. Women are indeed watching – state by state – and are served by the defunding of Planned Parenthood.”

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 330,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
