Altoona – Today, Jim Carley of Altoona, IA, filed his Affidavit of Candidacy and his Nomination Petition forms with the Iowa Secretary of State office to be placed on the ballot for the Iowa House of Representatives. Carley is seeking to represent the newly formed House District 30. House District 30 is the largest district, by area, in Polk County that covers the eastern portion of the county from Warren County to Story County. Communities in the district are Altoona, Bondurant, Elkhart, Mitchellville and rural Pleasant Hill and Carlisle.

Carley submitted petition forms containing 413 signatures. The requirement is fifty.

Carley is running on the Republican ticket and has been active in grassroots politics advocating for constitutional principles of limited government and individual liberty and freedom. Freedom and liberty is the essence of both the Iowa Constitution and the U.S. Constitution. Carley is focused on issues that protect Iowans rights and help communities to grow and prosper.

Jim Carley is a lifelong resident of Iowa. He retired as the branch manager from Bearing Headquarters Company, a regional distribution company, and as a Lt. Col. with the United States Army. He is married and has two sons and a granddaughter.

Carley looks forward to the opportunity to represent the residents of Eastern Polk County.
