CEDAR FALLS – In an event Friday morning at Scratch Cupcakery in Cedar Falls, Matt Reisetter announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for a seat in the Iowa Senate. Reisetter intends to run in the newly-redrawn Senate District 30, currently represented by Jeff Danielson.

“The same mentality that has led our federal government to run up nearly 16 trillion dollars in debt is alive and well here in Iowa,” said Reisetter. “This mentality believes that big government is good and that there’s no problem that more government spending cannot solve. I don’t believe this, and neither do voters in the Cedar Valley. Instead, we know that limited government leads to more liberty for individuals and communities to solve their own problems, overcome their own challenges, and pursue their own dreams, and to do so more effectively and with more dignity, fulfillment, and satisfaction.”

This will be Reisetter’s second run for public office. In 2006 he ran against incumbent Representative Bob Kressig; Kressig was reelected by a margin of only 106 votes out of over 10,000 total votes cast.
In Sen. Danielson’s last campaign, in 2008, he was challenged by Walt Rogers, now a member of the Iowa House of Representatives. Danielson was reelected by a margin of only 22 votes out of over 32,000 total votes cast.

Reisetter is the owner of consulting firm SDG Solutions. He spent 6 years as the Director of Development for the Family Leader, a conservative advocacy group; before that he was the College Ministry Director at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Matt has been married to his wife Jen for 12 years. Matt and Jen have three young children: Mason, Jillian, and Jentry. Reisetter grew up in Cedar Falls, having attended Valley Park Elementary, Peet Junior High, and Cedar Falls High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in science from the University of Northern Iowa in 1998.

Senate District 30 is comprised of Cedar Falls, Hudson, and portions of west Waterloo and western rural Black Hawk County.
