Pleasant Hill, IOWA. – Former Pennsylvania Senator and 2012 Presidential candidate Rick Santorum and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal are joining Iowans in their fight against judicial activism.  Senator Santorum will join the tour for the Des Moines, Pella, and Ottumwa stops on Monday, Sept. 24 and Governor Jindal for stops on Wednesday, September 26.

“The judiciary’s usurpation of authority in recent years is completely unacceptable,” Santorum said. “It is obviously clear the people’s Constitution gives the judicial branch the least power, and yet these appointed judges continuously legislate from the bench whether it is gay marriage in Iowa, collective bargaining in Wisconsin, or resulting in the death of millions of lives caused by the opinion of Roe v. Wade.”

Santorum and Gov. Jindal are joining Iowans for Freedom, a project of The FAMiLY LEADER, on its statewide “NO Wiggins” Bus Tour. The purpose of the tour is to raise Iowans’ awareness regarding the significance of this fall’s judicial retention election; and more specifically educate Iowans about the need to uphold and affirm judicial integrity by removing politics from the court via activist judges, such as Iowa Supreme Court Judge David Wiggins.

Governor Jindal said, “The election in November may be the most important election in our lifetimes. From the top of the ticket on down, our freedoms and values are at stake. It’s critical we do everything we can to encourage conservatives to go to the polls and vote to uphold our values, freedoms, and constitutional rights.”

The NO Wiggins Bus Tour kicks off Monday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Iowa State Capitol. The bus tour will span four days across Iowa and cover more than 1,300 miles while visiting 17 Iowa communities.

The schedule includes:

Monday, Sept. 24:  Des Moines, Pella, Ottumwa, Burlington, Muscatine

Tuesday, Sept. 25:  Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Cedar Falls

Wednesday, Sept. 26:  Mason City, Marshalltown, Ft. Dodge, Carroll

Thursday, Sept. 27:  Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Spencer, Orange City

A full schedule of times and locations can be found at www.NoWiggins.com.

Joining Santorum and Jindal will be the Iowans for Freedom team, including State Chair Bob Vander Plaats, Co-Chair Tamara Scott, Senior Advisor Chuck Laudner, and Iowans for Freedom Executive Director Greg Baker.

Bob Vander Plaats, State Chair of Iowans for Freedom commented, “Iowans and the American people not only expect but deserve restoring integrity in our courts. That was obvious in November 2010 when Iowans spoke with a clear, loud voice not to retain three Iowa Supreme Court justices. Iowans understand the state’s high court demonstrated personal bias on April 3, 2009, when they legislated from the bench, executed from the bench, and attempted to amend Iowa’s Constitution.  Iowans for Freedom as well as hundreds of thousands of Iowans believe the job must be finished.  This is a freedom issue and we believe Iowans should vote “NO” on Wiggins.”

The Iowans for Freedom “NO Wiggins” bus tour is sponsored by CitizenLink, Patriot Voices, and The FAMiLY LEADER along with co-sponsors: National Organization for Marriage and CatholicVote.org.
