INDEPENDENCE, IA — New financial disclosures reveal that Iowans are backing U.S. congressional candidate Ben Lange over the three-term liberal Democrat incumbent Bruce Braley by huge margins.

Iowans contributed 69 percent of Lange’s contributions during the third quarter, compared to only 36 percent for Braley.

“I’m proud to have the support of my fellow Iowans as we take a stand against the corruption and incompetence in Washington, and especially those outside special interests seeking to buy this election for Congressman Braley,” Lange said Monday.

According to the new disclosures, Lange raised $412,434 during the 3rd quarter, an all-time quarterly record for his campaign. Lange out-fundraised Braley in the state of Iowa $282,579 to $170,966.

Braley’s 2012 campaign has been bankrolled by outside special interests to the tune of $853,682, or 78 percent of his overall campaign contributions, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Lawyers and lobbyists alone have contributed $718,216 to Braley’s reelection, despite Braley’s pre-election pledge not to accept lobbyist contributions.
