img_02601Des Moines, IA – The 52nd annual Iowa Prayer Breakfast will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 7:15-8:45 a.m.  It will be held at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center (formerly Veterans Memorial Auditorium) at 883 5th Avenue, Des Moines, IA  50309.

The purpose of the Iowa Prayer Breakfast is to bring together Iowa’s governor, state legislators, and community and religious leaders to join with the public to ask God’s direction and blessing upon the state.  Starting in 1961, Iowans have continued this beloved tradition, gathering every Maundy Thursday to celebrate the beginning of the Easter weekend.  People from all walks of life come to enjoy the reading of Scripture, listen to local vocalists and musicians, and hear an inspiring message from a selected keynote speaker.  Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and several other elected officials have committed to attend this year’s prayer breakfast.

Esteemed author and speaker Dr. Ravi Zacharias will be this year’s featured keynote speaker.  Dr. Zacharias has spoken across the globe at numerous universities, notably Harvard, Princeton, Oxford, and Cambridge.

Well-versed in the disciplines of comparative religions, cults, and philosophy, Dr. Zacharias has delivered addresses at the White House, Pentagon, Cannon House, CIA, United Nations, and before heads of state in many countries.  Key leaders, governors, and congressional members regularly seek his insight on cultural and worldview issues.  Dr. Zacharias is the host of both international radio and television programs.  For more information on Ravi Zacharias, go to www.rzim.org.  At the Iowa Prayer Breakfast, his topic of discussion will be “Lessons from History:  A Tale of Two Men,” based on 2 Kings, chapters 21 and 22.

The cost to attend the Iowa Prayer Breakfast is $20 for adults and $10 for students.  The reservation deadline is the end of business day March 18th.  To register, go to http://iowaprayerbreakfast.eventbrite.com.

To accommodate statewide attendees, arrangements have been made with three local hotels to provide rooms at a reduced rate.  Go to www.iowaprayerbreakfast.com/hotels.htm for details.
