Well thank you for clearing that up for us History Channel.Ā  I admit that I havenā€™t seen any of the episodes of The Bible on the History Channel (I just read what itā€™s based on).Ā  It isnā€™t that I donā€™t want to, we just donā€™t have cable anymore.Ā  I also missed the explosion on Twitter over the actor who plays Satan who looks pretty familiar.Ā  Where have we seen this guy before?Ā  Oh yeah heā€™s the current resident of the Oval Office ā€“ President Barack Obama.Ā  Well no, actually itā€™s Moroccan actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni.

Hereā€™s a side-by-side picture:

Obama-Satan

It is a pretty uncanny resemblance though.

The History Channel issued a press release:

“History Channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s The Bible is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”

The executive producers of the show, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, issued a separate statement, “This is utter nonsense.Ā  The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics ā€“ including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President.”

Downey added, “Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible.”

So Ouazanni looks like Satan?Ā  Just kidding.

I donā€™t know about you, but Iā€™m relieved that a political statement wasnā€™t being made and that our President is not Satan.Ā  Whew!Ā  Thanks History Channel for clearing that up.
