Choose Life License Plates

If you have already ordered your Choose Life license plate from the Iowa Department of Transportation; Iowa Right to Life announced tonight that they are ready to be issued.  You should be hearing from your county treasurer soon to pick yours up.  If you haven’t not ordered your Choose Life license plate you can do so from your local county treasurer.  You can also order them online here.

After more than 10 years of trying to win approval for the license plates, the Iowa Department of Transportation finally agreed to accept applications for the specialty plate in April of 2012.  Iowa Right to Life was given a year to gather orders — including  payment — for at least 500 plates before the DOT would issue “Choose Life” plates.    Each “Choose Life” license plate costs $25.00 or $50.00 for a personalized one. A $5.00 fee is then added to the registration renewal cost each year.

You can order this license plate for any vehicle: automobiles, multipurpose vehicles, sport utility vehicles, vans, motorcycles, trucks, motor homes, trailers and travel trailers.

Iowa Right to Life also informed us that inquiries about the Choose Life license plate needs to be directed toward the Iowa Department of Transportation.  They can no longer process applications for them.
