So, today is Get Off Facebook Day? To celebrate freedom from the corporations who have a stranglehold on our lives, especially banning some conservative’s posts (most are back up now – if it’s a stranglehold, it’s not very tight.) “Protests” like this are symbolic only , and a large waste of time.

1) If you really think they are that anti-freedom, get off FB every day! But then, you would miss the mundane and inane posts like “I’m having lunch with Joe Schmo down at Kevin’s Diner.” (Im’ guilty! We all spend too much time divulging personal stuff to hundreds or thousands of people we hardly know – but I digress.)

2) It makes Zip, NADA, Goose Egg difference to corporate America (try protesting an Ebay change that directly effects thousands of people’s livelihoods to see how that works).*

3) Don’t worry, FB knows that you will be back tomorrow to check what you missed (maybe even secretly, guiltily, today) You’ll read the same liberal and conservative nonsense, IMBIBE THEIR SUBLIMINAL Pop-up ads, etc.

4)  How many extra Facebook megabytes were spent on FB, to gain support for this day?

Count me out. I’ll reduce my FB trips (hopefully!) but take the day off? Nah…

*Reminds me of “Dim the Lights” protest for Earth Day by the left. Yea, turn the lights out for a year, then maybe I ‘ll listen.
