olympic-national-park-closed(Des Moines, IA) As the government shutdown enters a third week and America creeps closer to breeching the debt ceiling, Congressman Bruce Braley continues to put his liberal politics ahead of Iowans by voting against measures that would require the House and Senate to meet daily in order to come to a resolution to address the nation’s finances and get the government running again.

“Considering how concerned Rep. Braley is about not having a fresh towel in the Members Only gym, I would think he would be anxious to get the government back up and running. It’s not easy being a congressman who has to take care of his own towels in his private gym,” said Heather Swift, spokeswoman for David Young, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate and former Chief of Staff to Senator Grassley. “Rep. Braley takes every chance he can get with the media to call for an end to the government shutdown, but then behind closed doors, votes against every measure to solve it.”

“David Young has a history of fighting for Iowans alongside Senator Grassley, and using that experience, as U.S. Senator, David will dismantle the broken government, cut it down to size and replace it with fresh conservative ideas, like zero-based budgeting, sunshine legislation and a full federal audit, so that Iowa’s families and job creators don’t have to worry about these problems again.”

Since the shutdown began on October 1st, Rep. Braley voted not once but twice against measures that would force the House and Senate to work together toward a solution to our nation’s financial troubles.

David Young of Van Meter is Republican candidate for U.S. Senate and the former Chief of Staff for Senator Chuck Grassley.  He has visited 98 of Iowa’s 99 counties and will wrap up the tour this week. For more information on David or to receive campaign updates, visit www.YoungForIowa.com.
