Shane Vander Hart Interviewing Rod Blum

Caffeinated Thoughts looks to expand its state political coverage throughout the Midwest and needs a few good citizen journalists to help accomplish that.

We are looking to expand in these areas:

  • Illinois political coverage and government news
  • Iowa political coverage and government news
  • Kansas political coverage and government news
  • Minnesota political coverage and government news
  • Missouri political coverage and government news
  • Nebraska political coverage and government news
  • South Dakota political coverage and government news
  • Wisconsin political coverage and government news

We are looking for people who can commit to writing at least once or twice a week (multiple contributors in a state is fine) on a voluntary basis (ideally we’ll have several people in each state).  Types of articles we’re looking for are: interviews with state house & state senate members and/or candidates, interviews with state-wide elected officers, legislative coverage, coverage of U.S. Senate and Congressional races in your state, state legislative and state-wide campaign coverage, covering press conferences, etc.  Simply report what you see and hear in your state’s political arena.

We are looking for primarily news articles, but op/eds on occasion are fine too.

Qualifications:

  • We are a Christian, conservative new media news outlet.  So writers should have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and understand Caffeinated Thoughts’ mission of addressing issues and news from a biblical worldview. (This makes us unique from other political blogs, it’s our niche.)
  • Write well using good grammar and spelling.
  • Unafraid to ask hard questions.
  • Knowledge of different political organizations and elected officials in your state and/or willingness to learn.

Preferences:

  • Ability to take pictures at events. (camera phone is fine)
  • Social media savvy – willing to share your articles on social media platforms.

We are not looking for

If you are interested please contact our editor, Shane Vander Hart, at shane@caffeinatedthoughts.com with your name, email address, phone number, city and state and background information.  If you have writing samples those would be appreciated as well.
