Washington, DC – Yesterday Kermit Gosnell was sentenced to 30 years in prison for illegally dispensing prescription drugs. The notorious Philadelphia abortionist was previously found guilty of the murder of three newborn children and the negligent death of one woman. The drug crimes for which Gosnell has now been sentenced were the ones that first opened the door on the atrocities going on inside the Philadelphia Women’s Medical Society. Following of the sentencing, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group the Susan B. Anthony List, gave the following comment:

“Women across the country are suffering at the hands of unscrupulous abortionists – some just as brutal as Kermit Gosnell – and yet, where are all the feminists? Although the state of Gosnell’s facility was known by abortion industry leaders Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation, it was federal drug agents that first exposed the ‘house of horrors.’

“In Philadelphia and across the nation, the abortion lobby routinely pushes safety concerns and comprehensive women’s health care aside for the sake of ‘choice.’ This hasn’t gone unnoticed by some who have seen firsthand the damage done to women inside America’s abortion clinics. Pro-choice Pennsylvania Representative Margo Davidson, whose cousin died following a botched abortion at Gosnell’s clinic, said that for the abortion industry, ‘the institution [of abortion] was more important than the individual lives.’

“The abortion industry protests that Gosnell was an outlier, but evidence to the contrary continues to pour out nationwide. Women are being hurt by Douglas Karpen in Houston, Stephen Brigham in several states, and even abortion clinic employees are decrying ‘meat market style assembly line abortions.’

The abortion industry claims to champion ‘women’s health care’ but their campaign against meaningful regulations of clinics and abortionists should give every American pause.”

The SBA List has compiled an ever-expanding fact sheet on abortion industry negligence and brutality occurring nationwide and has called on Congress to take action protect children inside and outside the womb from late-term abortion.

Last week the SBA List released its fact sheet on Planned Parenthood’s 2012-2013 annual report. The report revealed that Planned Parenthood’s cancer screenings and prenatal services, including adoption referrals, continue to drop.
