(Sioux City, IA)  Sam Clovis, candidate for the U.S. Senate, announced today that he is well past the qualifications for signatures needed to have his name on the ballot for the primary election in June, 2014.  “I have been meeting with voters since I announced my candidacy in June and have been asking them face-to-face for their votes,” said Clovis.  He continued by saying that the Clovis campaign is now excited about the caucuses in January and adding to their signature count.  “We are not done.  We are still gathering signatures.  We are building momentum to carry us into the caucuses and onward to the primary.”

Sam Clovis is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Tom Harkin.   Harkin has announced his retirement at the end of this Congressional session.

Kristi Honas from Des Moines has enjoyed working diligently on behalf of Sam Clovis to gather signatures for his nomination papers.  “I believe his Constitutional Conservative principles are what Iowans and the American people need to represent them in Washington, D.C.,” said Honas.  “I will continue to work hard to elect him as Iowa’s next U.S. Senator.”

Clovis has been traveling the state since his announcement and has garnered 400+ county co-captains and has official campaign visits in 58 counties so far.  He has participated in county GOP events, forums and association meetings.  Meeting face-to-face with voters is important to Sam.  Clovis believes that the key to rebuilding the Republican Party in Iowa and winning this Senate race is building a strong ground game.  The petition signatures and the county-captain program are strong indicators of just how extensive this ground game is.

“It has been my honor to gather signatures on Sam’s behalf, to win him the nomination for U.S. Senate,” said Kay Quirk.  “As a strict Constitutional Conservative, he is the man who will return our country to its founding principles.”  Kay is from Alta, Iowa in Buena Vista County.
