Friends, I have received a lot of support and encouragement as I have considered becoming a candidate for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. Next week, I will be making an important and exciting announcement about this race and my future plans to fight for Iowa. I don’t know about you, but this to me sounds like he’ll be throwing his hat in the ring. If so he’ll join Des Moines teacher Joe Grandanette and David Young who is dropping out of the U.S Senate to run for the seat that is now open after Congressman Tom Latham announced he was not running for reelection. It’s likely that State Senator Brad Zaun (R-Urbandale), who ran for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District against former Congressman Leonard Boswell in 2010, will also join the race.

Update – 1/7/14: On Thursday, January 9th at 10:30 AM, Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz will hold a press conference in Council Bluffs, IA to discuss his plans for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District.  It will be held at the Council Bluffs City Hall.
