Tomorrow, at the Iowa State Capitol, it is the annual “Planned Parenthood of the Heartland Day on the Hill.”  According to their own publicity, in meeting with legislators, they will talk about, “how to advance and protect progressive policies that improve the health and well-being of the women, men and families in our communities.”

Here’s what they WON’T be telling our elected officials.

On the day that they are rallying at the Statehouse and meeting with Representatives and Senators, 17 babies will die within their organization’s walls or within women all over Iowa, who began the arduous, painful process of webcam abortions in their offices.

Think about that for a moment.  Just between today and tomorrow, a future kindergarten class will VANISH, lost forever to the chilling reality of abortion.  And the next day.  And the day after that… Never will those yet unseen, still forming, bright, inquisitive eyes and ears encounter life outside of their mother’s womb.  They will never be allowed to breathe in Iowa Springtime – celebrate their first birthday – skip off to the school bus.

Nor will those lobbying with Planned Parenthood of the Heartland ask their State Senators to support the webcam abortion ban that was sent over to them in early February from the Iowa House.  HF 2175, a bill that did receive bipartisan support.

We know that 100s of Iowans have already contacted their State Senators after we appealed to you several days ago, when we began to see absolutely no sign of action in the Senate on the webcam abortion bill.  We knew then that the Iowa Board of Medicine overwhelmingly supports banning the practice. We know our organization has collected 30,000 signatures and counting of Iowans who want to ban this practice. Further, we know Governor Branstad is ready to sign this legislation and end this barbaric practice in the state in which the idea was even conceived.

Further proof that Iowans want webcam abortions to end came yesterday on the front page of the Des Moines Register.  In an exclusive Iowa Poll and with a headline like “66 percent of Iowans against telemed abortions“, it’s a must read.  If you haven’t already, you can read it online.

With only a limited time left in the legislative session, we need you to act NOW.  Please contact your Senator today or tomorrow and ask them, again, to support HF 2175, the webcam abortion ban. Please ask them to let Senator Michael Gronstal know that we, the voters, see what he is doing, letting more Pro-Life legislation languish in the Senate chamber.  All we are asking is for Senator Gronstal to “Let the Senate Vote.”

Finally, please consider writing a letter to the editor in your community.  It’s so important that YOU be the voice in your local community.  You can reach people: your family, friends, neighbors in ways we simply cannot.  To help you with that, check out the latest in our Get the Facts series, Myths about webcam abortions.
