Royce Phillips files his paper for reelection with Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz.

(Tiffin, IA) Royce W. Phillips (R-Tiffin), candidate for Iowa Senate District 39 today filed petitions with Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz for the ballot in the Republican primary on June 3, 2014. The petitions were then certified and Royce Phillips will be on the June 3 ballot.

“I am grateful for the support from those in Johnson, Washington, and Keokuk counties who signed my petitions for candidacy. In gathering these signatures we have been able to visit with many of the residents of this district who support our campaign theme of Reconciliation-Reform-Rebuild. I would respectfully ask for your vote on June 3. I look forward to serving the residents of Senate District 39,” Phillips said.

Senate District 39 covers most of western and southern Johnson County, most of Washington County, and all of Keokuk County. It has been represented by Sen. Sandy Greiner (R-Keota) who announced that she would retire and not seek re-election.

Royce Phillips has lived in Johnson County since 1983 and has been involved in the community for most of that time. He has served the mayor as well as a city council member in Tiffin. He has been married to his wife, Cindy for 36 years. Their family includes 4 grown children and 8 grandchildren. Phillips has been the Pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coralville since 1983.
