Joni Ernst speaks to a group in Waukee, IA on her initial campaign announcement tour.

(Des Moines, IA) Further evidencing the growing support and momentum behind her full-spectrum conservative candidacy for United States Senate, mother, soldier and proven conservative, Joni Ernst is proud to announce the endorsement of fellow Iowa State Senator, Ken Rozenboom (District 40).

In announcing his endorsement, Senator Rozenboom stated, “I am delighted to endorse Joni Ernst to represent Iowa in the United States Senate.” He added, “Yes, she is a caring mother, a military leader and a proven conservative. More than that, she is a wonderful person who always lives the Iowa values of honesty, integrity and hard work. I am proud to call Joni a colleague and a friend. Iowans will soon be proud to call Joni their U.S. Senator.”

In response to Senator Rozenboom joining Team Joni, Joni Ernst offered the following statement: “I am humbled and proud to receive Ken Rozenboom’s support. He is a strong and principled leader in the state senate and his support for my candidacy for U.S. Senate is a significant boost to our efforts. I look forward to campaigning with Ken in the coming days and weeks.”

Last week, Joni Ernst was proud to receive the support of Governor Mitt Romney and over the weekend Real Clear Politics ran a nationally distributed profile of Joni and her candidacy.

Senator Rozenboom represents the 40th senate district, which covers Appanoose, Monroe and Mahaska Counties, as well as portions of Marion and Wapello Counties.  A farmer, agri-businessman and life-long Iowan, Rozenboom was born and resides in Mahaska County. A graduate of Pella Christian High School and Calvin College in Michigan, Rozenboom returned home to farm with his father and brother before taking a position in sales and production management for Wake’s Inc., a local agricultural supplier. After 30 years with Wake’s, he and his brother now operate Rosewood Farms, a family farming operation in rural Mahaska County. Rozenboom has served as an elder and deacon in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church and served several years on the board for the Oskaloosa Christian School.  He served on community boards for many years, including a stint as chairman on two local agencies: the Human Services Resource Council, an organization that provides emergency needs for low income families, and the Christian Opportunity Center board, which provides residential and vocational services for special needs adults. Additionally, Rozenboom is a member of the Mahaska County Farm Bureau and Oskaloosa Rotary Club.  Rozenboom and his wife of Becky have two children. Their daughter and son-in-law have three children. Their son is an Army paratrooper, who has been deployed twice to Afghanistan.
