There is a steady Gallup poll that tells us what the most important problems facing the United States are according to We the People. The two most important issues, now and since January 2014, is unemployment and dissatisfaction with the government’s abuse of power.
The four bottom issues, all at 3%, of least concern and interest to the American people are: 1) The gap between rich and poor. This favorite wedge issue of the Democratic Party–inequality–is of no interest to the American people. 2) Immigration and illegal aliens. The federal government’s annual push for a “path to citizenship” for illegal aliens, and all the pandering that goes along with it… is of little concern to actual Americans. 3) The environment and pollution. And yet the Environmental Protection Agency marches on. 4) Race relations and racism. And yes, Gallup polls do include minorities.
Now ask yourself: On which issues is the Obama Administration the most focused? On which issues are the most executive actions taken? On which issues do the talking heads on cable TV most discuss and debate? These.
There IS a disconnect, but it is not between the rich and the poor, or those with dark skin pigmentation and those with light skin pigmentation. The disconnect is between We the People and the ruling class politicians. The president and his directly appointed bureaucrats drone on about these wedge issues precisely because they divide us and distract us from what we really care about–the pathetic, pitiful, blundering mess that is our economic “progress” with almost six years of Obamanomics.
