America Rising PAC has tracked Congressman Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) all over the state as he campaigns for Iowa’s U.S. Senate seat.

At an Independence Day parade in Iowa Falls, IA it sounds as if a voter is telling Braley that she’s a farmer.  He then says “so am I.”

They provided a transcript:

WOMAN: “We’re farmers.”
BRALEY: “So am I.”
WOMAN: “But so is Grassley,”
BRALEY: “So am I.”

Jennifer Jacobs at The Des Moines Register notes, “Braley is not an active farmer. He doesn’t own farm land and doesn’t earn any farm income, according to his federal financial disclosure reports. He doesn’t perform or manage any farm operations, campaign aides said today.”

She also reports that Braley aides heard her say “we’re for farmers” if so his answer makes sense, but that isn’t what I heard listening to the video below.  The second statement made by the woman he is talking to is unintelligble for me so I can’t verify whether their transcript is accurate or not.

Here is the video below, you decide:

This would be Braley’s second farmer gaffe, the first is when he told a group of trial lawyers in Texas that U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley is “just a farmer” and wasn’t qualified to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee if Republicans took over the Senate.  Perhaps it’s time for Congressman Braley to invest in some hearing aides.
