(Des Moines, IA) Today, mother, soldier, independent leader, and Iowa’s Republican nominee for U.S. Senate Joni Ernst, released “Service,” her latest television ad of the general election campaign.

The new ad highlights one of our shared Iowa Values, service – neighbors helping neighbors, Iowans helping Iowans.  Joni Ernst has served her community, state, and nation here at home as a local volunteer, a Sunday School teacher, a Montgomery County Auditor and a state senator, as well as overseas as a company commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  She continues to serve as a Lt. Colonel and battalion commander in the Iowa Army National Guard – a part of her over two decades of wearing our nation’s uniform.

“Iowans have a strong sense of community.  Iowans help each other out in times of need.  Joni Ernst has been a proven leader in tough times, whether it is assisting during emergencies like floods in southwest Iowa or leading convoys into Baghdad, and she will continue to fight for Iowans and Iowa Values in the U.S. Senate. Joni has lived a life of service,” said Ernst spokesperson Gretchen Hamel.

The ad will begin airing today in key markets across the state.

Below is the full script of the ad.

JONI:  I believe in service. In Iowans helping Iowans.
VO:  Twenty years of military service.
JONI:  During emergencies like floods, people don’t ask if you’re Republican or Democrat.  They just need help.
VO:  Combat veteran and Lieutenant Colonel
JONI:  Leading convoys into Baghdad, I focused on one thing: Complete our mission, and bring every one of my soldiers home.  And that’s what we did.
VO:  Joni Ernst.  A leader, who will make Iowa proud.
JONI:  I’m Joni Ernst and I approved this message.

  1. Where is the disclaimer that is required by DOD regulation? This ad is no different than wearing your uniform to a political event. Her people messed up bad on this one.
