(Des Moines, IA) Americans for Prosperity’s (AFP) Iowa chapter is gearing up for the 2015 legislative session with a series of promotions as it continues building its grassroots infrastructure in the state. Thursday, the organization announced the promotion of current State Director Mark Lucas to become a Regional Director, responsible for overseeing multiple states. Filling Mark’s shoes as the new State Director will be long-time Deputy State Director and former Field Director, Drew Klein. The chapter is promoting Field Director Amanda Sebastian to Grassroots Director.

The promotions come on the heels of the Iowa chapter’s recognition in multiple news articles over the past few months. AFP was highlighted both locally and in national publications for its highly effective field plan which put immense pressure on Representative Bruce Braley for supporting President Obama’s agenda. AFP’s hard working activists knocked on nearly 200,000 doors and contacted nearly 800,000 Iowans over the past seven months. The organization plans to build on its successes to advance tax, spending, and educational reform in 2015.

“One of the many great features of working for Americans for Prosperity is our habit of promoting strong talent from within the organization,” explained Mark Lucas, Regional Director for Americans for Prosperity. “When I knew I was moving on to become a regional director, there was no better candidate I could recommend to take over as Iowa State Director than my long-time friend and Deputy State Director, Drew Klein. Drew is proof that smart, hard-working, principled young people can and will make a difference in politics. I look forward to watching the ways Drew will grow our chapter and advance limited government and economic freedom in ways I never expected. Congrats, Drew.”

“As a native Iowan, I couldn’t be more honored or excited at the opportunity to serve as the Iowa State Director and continue to build our presence in the state,” said Drew Klein, Iowa State Director for Americans for Prosperity. “Americans for Prosperity played a crucial role this year organizing Iowans to make their voices heard against Obama and Braley’s policies. I’m looking forward to building our grassroots army to the next level as we gear up for the 2015 legislative session.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us to pass tax reform in the state legislature, reduce wasteful spending, and provide school choice options that enable all students to obtain a quality education. Iowa is a great state, but our state government has a habit of forgetting the value of the tax dollar and the voice of the voters who gave them their job. In 2015 and beyond AFP will continue to hold all Iowa politicians accountable and push them to promote policies that expand economic freedom, broad-based prosperity, and low taxes.”
