(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congressman-Elect David Young yesterday was appointed to the United States House of Representatives’ Appropriations Committee for the 114th Congress, pledging to hold government accountable, work on fiscally sound bills, and ensure government runs smoothly, effectively and efficiently.
“I am honored to hold this position on behalf of Iowa’s Third Congressional District,” said Young. “As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will make it a priority each and every day to bring sound fiscal judgment to Congress and fight for effective and efficient government. I believe we need to actually govern and the way we do so is by reining in spending and holding government accountable. I’m excited to get to started, and I will work hard every day for the people of Iowa in this important new responsibility.”
In announcing Young and his fellow members’ new position on the committee, House Appropriations Chair Hal Rogers (R-KY) stated the following:

It takes smarts, guts, and the strength and character to do the right thing and make the best possible decisions regarding the use of American tax dollars. The Committee has made historic strides over the last four years to roll back discretionary spending – to the tune of over $165 billion – and to enact good-government policies to stem over-regulation, provide strong oversight over federal agencies, and to keep federal budgets in line. These new members will be essential in continuing these efforts, and I know that their leadership will enable the Committee to continue our record of success. It is a pleasure to have these new members on board, and I look forward to serving with them in the 114th Congress.”

Young was elected to the House of Representatives on November 4 of this year.
