Rod-BlumToday, Congressman-elect Rod Blum announced that Paul Smith and John Ferland will serve as Chief of Staff and District Director, respectively, for his official Congressional staff.

“I am pleased to have Paul and John leading our team,” said Blum. “They are both results oriented, hard-working professionals who will deliver the best service possible to the people of Iowa’s First District. As a small businessman from outside the political class, I wanted our key leadership positions filled by people who are familiar with Iowans, not with “business as usual” in the federal government. Paul and John fit that bill as neither has ever worked for the federal government and both have traveled extensively in eastern Iowa over the last two years.”

Smith, a graduate of Hillsdale College who will serve as Chief of Staff after holding the role of Operations Director for Blum’s successful campaign, said, “I have no doubt that Congressman-elect Blum will be a tremendous representative, and I am excited to get to work helping him serve the citizens of the First District. Our staff’s number one priority will be to support the Congressman as he works hard every day to be an effective legislator who always puts his constituent’s best interests first.”

Ferland, who served as the campaign’s Organizational Director, a role he previously filled for the Republican Party of Iowa, said, “As District Director for Congressman-elect Blum, our team will work tirelessly to provide unmatched constituent services to all citizens of the First District. We will listen then act on the issues facing them in their day to day lives, and strive to ensure that the federal government is working for the people rather than Washington politicians and bureaucrats.”

Rod Blum is the Republican Congressman-elect in Iowa’s 1st District. A former Iowa Entrepreneur of the Year, Rod graduated with a finance degree from Loras College and received his MBA from the University of Dubuque. A lifelong resident of Dubuque and current owner of Digital Canal Corporation, Rod is married to Karen Blum with six children. For more information please visit: www.RodBlum.com.
