At the Democratic National Convention in 2004, Barack Obama made a speech in which he cast himself as man with a post-racial view of America. It was an uplifting speech that paid tribute to the greatness and uniqueness of America. It was a speech that indicated his vision for an united America, a country undivided by race, as well as ideology, or party politics. Now, some eleven years later, this same man has managed to divide us like we haven’t been in generations. And it’s nearly impossible to criticize him about anything without someone asserting that the criticism is racially motivated. He could have, and should have, put a stop to that sort of thing, but he hasn’t. Was that speech all those years ago just a charade?
