Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson announced his campaign at an event held in his hometown of Detroit, MI.  Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina departed from the rest of the field thus far and made her announcement on Good Morning America yesterday, through social media and in a one-minute long YouTube video.  Both candidates have planned trips to Iowa this week following their announcements.  They join U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rand Paul (R-KY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) to expand the Republican 2016 field.  Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is making his announcement today.
