U.S. Senator Joni Ernst’s inaugural Roast and Ride received two bomb threats on Saturday.  The Iowa State Patrol confirmed today that it is investigating a threat made towards the event at the Central Iowa Expo in Boone.

Caffeinated Thoughts during a live blog of the event confirmed the first bomb threat made towards the venue in Boone, Iowa.  Chief Deputy RD Lampe of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department told Caffeinated Thoughts that a bomb threat was called in.

Candidates were rounded up and brought to the Central Iowa Expo’s administration building.  Candidates present for the Roast and Ride included former Texas Governor Rick Perry, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

It was deemed not credible.  The event continued on Saturday with little disruption and every candidate and elected official present spoke to the assembled crowd.

The Iowa Statesman provided additional information from the Iowa State Patrol and confirmed that an investigation is underway.  Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Nathan Ludwig told The Iowa Statesman that the threat to the Boone venue was called into the Iowa State Patrol communications center at 12:37 p.m. on Saturday as the program started.

“We are in possession of the recording and are conducting an analysis of the content. This is currently an ongoing investigation and until such time, this information will not be available,” Ludwig told The Iowa Statesman.

Breitbart News broke the news a second bomb threat was made in Des Moines directed at the Big Barn Harley Davidson Dealership where Ernst launched her motorcycle ride to the Central Iowa Expo.  The phone call was made well after all the riders were at the Boone venue.

Polk County Police Department (sic – Sheriff’s Department) Spokesperson Brandon Bracelin told Breitbart News exclusively more information about the “security breach” in Iowa Saturday.

He said at 3:23 p.m. that “we got a call from a male that there was five bombs in or near Big Barn Harley Davidson Dealership” in Des Moines, Iowa, where Senator’s (R-IA) Roast and Ride event kicked off earlier Saturday.

Bracelin said the building was evacuated and searched and “nothing seemed out of place” but after that the business was closed for the day. He told Breitbart News the threat was a voice over call through the internet to “west com dispatch,” which is a radio dispatch for western suburbs.
